"It's Not About the Technology" by Kelly Hines
Kelly Hines blog post to me says that technology is not as important in the classroom as it is stressed so much to be. It is important that the teacher is well educated and knows how to use the technology. What is the point in having a $5,000 smart board if it just sits there, and the teacher does not know how to use it?
The teacher should be willing to be a learner as well as the students. She says a teacher should teach with learning in mind. Provide the kids with all of the material they should know and focus on learning. And if that teacher who teaches the children to learn and has enough knowledge to do so, can incorporate technology into the classroom and show the children what the technology can offer them.
Karl Fisch "Is It Okay to Be A Technologically Illiterate Teacher?"
In yhis blog post, Karl Fisch states that if a teacher is not technologically literate and does not make it an effort to learn more, it is pretty much equivalent to a teacher that can not read or write. I think that by this statement he is trying to say that teachers should be technologically literate because computers and other types of technology is a big part of our modern day lives, and it has been for a long time now.
In my opinion, all teachers should be technologically literate. It is important that we teach our students to be technologically literate as well, to prepare them for the future! A teacher can only teach what they know, and they must be able to keep up with the changes in our society. Most jobs now deal with technology and isn't that what teachers do? Prepare our students for the future?
Gary Hayes Social Media Count
As I watched Social Media Count change I was astonished! I never realized how fast social networks, technology, and the internet were growing and being used each second! I also read the August update below the counter and noticed that billions and billions and billions of dollars are going towards technology each day.
These changes are happening at an unbelievable rate. What do they mean for my professional career as a teacher? I think that this shows that teachers should be up to date with the new technology. It is an important tool in teaching these days. I notice that even a lot of elementary school children have brand new cell phones these days, and if they are capable of using one they are capable of dealing with other types of technology! It is our job as educators to stay on track with our students. What good would it be for us if the students knew more about technology than we do?

Hey Jessica, my name is Katie and I am in EDM 310 with Dr. Strange as well. I completely agree with you that teachers must be willing to be learners as well, since there is always something new out there for us. We do need to be technology literate because that is how it is now, and it will only be more so in the future. As future teachers, we will be using any technological tools for research on everything from projects to lesson plans we can use. Technology goes in depth with subjects and information and ideas that help us to educate our students and educate ourselves.
